Tools
What was in my «streamer tools» folder, sorted by what it's for. You need almost none of it to start: a chat bot and alerts, and that's it.
If you only look at three
Broadcast and watch
MultiTwitch
AliveSeveral Twitch streams on one screen: multitwitch.tv/channel1/channel2. Great for games among friends.
SpeechChat
AliveReads chat messages aloud, so you don't have to keep looking at it.
Check the permissions it asks for when you connect your account.
Twitch Inspector
AliveChecks how your stream reaches Twitch: drops, real bitrate, lost frames.
Add ?bandwidthtest=true to your stream key to test without going live.
VDO.Ninja
AliveBrings guests (or your phone camera) into your stream from the browser, nothing to install and almost no delay. Free and open source.
It also has a speed test at vdo.ninja/speedtest. If you use director mode with a password, don't publish that address.
TwitchTheater
UnconfirmedSame as MultiTwitch, with more layout and chat options.
It appears in 2025 guides, but I couldn't check it.
Chat and bots
A cloud bot (Nightbot or Fossabot) is plenty to start. The desktop ones are for when you want to automate everything.
7TV
AliveExtra animated emotes in chat. The one most viewers use today.
BetterTTV
AliveThe classic extra-emotes extension for chat.
Fossabot
AliveAnother cloud bot, more modern and snappier than Nightbot, free.
FrankerFaceZ
AliveBrowser extension that upgrades Twitch chat: extra emotes and moderation tools.
The one for moderating. Also shows 7TV and BetterTTV emotes.
Mix It Up
AliveDesktop bot with a friendly interface: commands, sounds, chat games, points.
Nightbot
AliveThe classic cloud chat bot: commands (!socials), timed messages and spam filter.
SAMMI
AliveAutomation with visual blocks, popular with Stream Deck.
Its Stream Deck extension is reported broken on newer Elgato software.
Social Stream Ninja
AliveMerges Twitch, YouTube, Kick, TikTok and more into one chat and puts it on screen.
Open source, by the author of VDO.Ninja. Perfect if you stream to several platforms at once.
Streamer.bot
AliveAutomates everything: when someone redeems points, subs or types something, OBS does what you tell it.
KapChat
UnconfirmedChat as a transparent source to lay over your stream.
The page loads, but I couldn't confirm it still works. StreamElements has a chat widget that does.

Alerts and tips
DonationAlerts
AliveTips with alerts and on-screen goals.
SoundAlerts
AliveViewers spend bits or channel points to play a sound on your stream.
StreamElements
AliveFree all-in-one: alerts, overlays, chat bot, tips and points store.
It nearly shut down in May 2026 and Razer bought its assets in July. Still running, but its payment gateway closes on 31-12-2026 and tips move to PayPal.
Streamloots
AliveViewers buy card packs that trigger things on your stream: challenges, sounds, questions.
TipeeeStream
AliveTips and alerts, popular in France and Spain.
Twidget
AliveHighlights the chat message you pick on screen.
Triggerfyre
UnconfirmedChannel point rewards that played videos or sounds on screen.
The site is just a landing page now and the tool doesn't respond. Streamer.bot or SoundAlerts do the same.

Music and sounds
The biggest source of trouble: Twitch deletes VODs and warns channels over copyrighted music. «Free» doesn't mean cleared for streaming: read each one's terms.
Chillhop lo-fi with permission for creators.
Not royalty-free: it's a licence for individuals (not companies) that requires credit and registering your channel.
Jamendo
AliveIndependent music under Creative Commons licences.
The free tier is non-commercial: if your channel earns money, you need their paid licence.
MyInstants
AliveSoundboard of sounds and memes. Save your favourites to keep them handy.
Many sounds have murky origins: keep them short and sensible.
Pretzel
AliveA player of stream-safe music, by genre.
Still going (only its phone app closed).
StreamBeats
AliveHarris Heller's music made for streams, free.
Perfect for Twitch. For monetised YouTube videos, check its terms.
Soundtrack by Twitch
ClosedTwitch's own cleared-music service.
Shut down on 17 July 2023.

VTuber and avatars
To appear as a character instead of your face: you design it in one program and another moves it by tracking your face with the webcam.
veadotube
AlivePNGtuber: a drawing that changes when you talk. The easiest way to start.
veadotube mini is free.
VNyan
AliveFree 3D VTubing with loads of chat and event reactions.
VRoid Studio
AliveDesign your anime-style 3D character, free, no modelling skills needed.
VSeeFace
AliveMoves your 3D avatar by tracking your face with the webcam. Free and light.
Works, but only gets patches now. Warudo and VNyan are where things move.
Warudo
Alive3D VTubing with stages, physics and chat interactions.
Computer audio
To split what the stream hears from what you hear, and to make the mic sound good before it reaches OBS.
BlackHole
AliveFree, open-source virtual audio cable for Mac: routes system or app sound into OBS.
EasyEffects
AliveImproves your mic system-wide on Linux: removes noise, evens out volume, EQs.
Comes with example presets for voice.
NVIDIA Broadcast
AliveRemoves mic noise and blurs or replaces your camera background using the graphics card.
NVIDIA RTX cards only.
qpwgraph
AliveShows Linux audio (PipeWire) as boxes and wires, to patch by hand what goes into OBS.
Even simpler: Helvum.
VB-CABLE
AliveA virtual audio cable: routes one program's sound into another, say music into OBS on its own channel.
Free (donations welcome). On Mac, BlackHole is better.
Voicemeeter
AliveA virtual mixing desk: brings together mic, game, music and Discord and decides what viewers hear and what you hear.
Confusing at first: start with the basic version.
Stream Deck-style controllers
Buttons to switch scenes or mute the mic without hunting for the OBS window. No need to buy anything: your phone will do.
Bitfocus Companion
AliveTurns a Stream Deck, your phone or a browser into a control panel for OBS and lots of gear. Open source.
Also drives a Stream Deck without Elgato's app.
Macro Deck
AliveFree, open-source Stream Deck on your phone or browser: buttons for OBS, music and shortcuts.
Its OBS plugin hasn't changed since 2024: test it before relying on it.
Touch Portal
AliveYour phone or tablet as a button panel: switch scenes, mute the mic…
Free with a few buttons; remote OBS control is in the paid version.
Stats
SullyGnome

inStreamly

Jackbox

Marbles on Stream
